Context before lists

Japanese names are often written in kanji, hiragana, or katakana, and each script shapes how a name reads. Kanji carry meaning but can have several possible readings, so we show characters alongside their pronunciations. Our data is organized around these script pairings, so visitors can see how one name may appear in different forms.

Results are generated to reflect varied name styles, from traditional and gender-specific forms to anime-inspired and English-to-Japanese suggestions. We present meanings as explanations rather than fixed verdicts, because a name's sense depends on the characters chosen and the context in which it is used. Our aim is accurate, uncluttered reference material that supports informed exploration.
